After 3 years of listening to the kids beg for dogs and promising we would get some :) . . . we finally adopted two dogs. They are both female labrador retrievers and are about 35 - 40 pounds (medium sized).

This is Sue. She is 2 or 3 years old. The animal shelter was not sure about her age because she had been severely abused and abandoned. When they found her, she had been beaten and starved. I think it's been an adjustment for her to be around people and other dogs again. But, she is really doing great and is gaining weight. The vet thinks she is a pure breed. She is very calm and likes to sleep.

This is Daisy. She is 9 months old. Her original family moved and they could not take her with them. So, they took her to the animal shelter. She is a puppy! She loves to play and has lots of energy. She is a lab mix of some sort. Her fur is unbelieveable soft - like a rabbit! And, she doesn't shed at all. At first, she scared the kids because she would jump up and nip at them(typical puppy stuff). But, we've been working with her. And after only a month, she is TONS better and the kids really like her.

In fact, No. 3 has taken to the dogs like you would not believe! He is out there every day playing with them. He recently has been having "sleep overs" with the dogs. I let him set up a mattress and sleeping bag downstairs by their crates. He takes them "hunting." It is really cute. No. 4 thinks she is the boss of them. She grabs them by their collars and tries to direct them around the yard. Patient Sue usually walks with her. It's fun to see the dogs bonding with the kids and vice versa.

Sue and Daisy are outside dogs. They can come into the basement and go directly into their crates to sleep at night or if the weather is bad. Other than that, they are outside and we are building them a nice dog house. We are excited to have them. They are really good dogs.

Wow! You are brave to adopt TWO dogs! My kids (and husband) beg me constantly! They're going to be so jealous!
Awesome! they are beautiful! I'm glad to hear that they're outdoor dogs though cause I wasn't sure how dane would do walking around your house with them jumping all over him the whole time we're there. I can't wait to show the pictures to cade and talk to him about them and playing with them soon. He'll either love them or hate them...we'll see. chances are, Dane will love them! :)
our dates might be something like the 9th or 10th to the 16th or so. We're not positive but that's what we're hoping for., I'll let you know asap when we get it set in stone. thanks for letting us come for a visit. we can't wait to see you guys!!
