I know that some of you reading this next post may not believe this story. But, I swear its the honest truth.
We have a goldfish. The kids don't take care of it. The tank often gets really dirty and then I have to clean it and save the fish.
Well, it was one of those times when the tank was disgustingly dirty. I just sent the kids off to school and went to make beds. As I walked into the boys' room, I looked into the tank and noticed that the fish was dead.
Yes.
D E A D. Dead! No questions about it. He was floating upside down. No gill movement. Nothing. So, I thought, "This will be a good lesson to the kids. They need to learn to take care of their pets." So, I decided to leave the fish and have the kids clean the tank after school. I saw the fish several times throughout the day. It never moved. It stayed belly-up at the surface.
When the kids got home from school, I told them the news. No. 2 was very upset. She started to cry. She said, "No, Mom. He will be
ok." She ran upstairs. The whole way I could hear her pleading and repeating to herself, "He will be
ok. He will be
ok."
I started to feel bad for leaving the fish for the kids to see. I didn't think they would be that upset over just a goldfish. I waited for the
uncontrollable sobs. . . .
Instead, I heard No. 2 shout, "He's
ok, Mom! He's swimming!" I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I ran upstairs to check. Sure enough the fish was swimming around, just fine. I don't even have words to describe my reaction. I still don't. The fish was dead. I had seen it with my own eyes. And, now it was swimming. It was total unbelief.
Maybe you will have some theories for how this could possibly happen. I still can't believe it. But, I can't help but think that my sweet, wonderful, little girl had enough faith to bring a goldfish back from the dead.
